Starting from Rhayader, this moderate route takes in a lengthy descent which sweeps down Rhayader’s old nine-hole golf course.
Heading out from the Cwmdauddwr Car Park in Rhayader, you start on a gentle, level section of the old Aberystwyth mountain road. You’ll have to work hard as the climb steepens before you finally reach the Golf Links Byway to your right.
Once you’ve caught your breath, it’s time to return. And what a return! Downhill all the way, it’s an adrenalin-packed finish to your ride.
Taking about three hours, this moderate 29km trail leads you through parts of the Wye valley in addition to the Elan valley.
