Starting from Rhayader, this moderate route takes in ancient history, open hills and runs past four reservoirs.
Warm up your legs on the old Mountain Road climb to the site of a Roman Camp. The open hills take you high above Craig Coch Reservoir and dam, down through the valley and along the line of the Birmingham Corporation Railway. Stop off for well-earned refreshments at the Visitor Centre before making your way back to Rhayader via the River Wye.
A short (15km), moderate route that takes you around Caban Coch reservoir which should take about an hour to complete.
