Starting from Rhayader, this moderate route takes in open hills, dappled woodland and working farmland.
From Cwmdauddwr Car Park via the sculptural gateway by artist Reece Ingram, follow the Elan Valley Trail for approximately three miles to the Elan Valley Visitor Centre. Of course we’d advise taking in refreshments here!
Cross the River Elan on your left and make your way through Elan Village to pick up the Llanwrthwl Road. The ride takes you high up onto the Cefn with views of the Wye Valley. Ride through woodland, over open hills and farmland before dropping down onto the Wye Valley Walk. Head for the confluence of the River Wye and Elan and cross the bridge to bring you back into Rhayader.
A popular hour-long trail of moderate difficulty that includes a lengthy descent which sweeps down Rhayader’s old nine-hole golf course.
